SPE YP Lunch & Learn Today!

Hi all,

The next SPE YP Lunch and Learn will be Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 11:45 at Brookhaven College, EMGI. DJ Snyder will be presenting “Open Hole Multi-Stage Fracturing — A Return to Good Frac Practices“. He will be flying in from Houston specifically for this presentation, so let’s make sure we don’t have to cancel this one.

DJ is a YP working as a Technical Sales Support Engineer with Packers Plus Energy Services out of Houston, Texas. He has been working for Packers Plus for four years and is currently working on production analysis and research. He has a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Montana Tech.

Presentation Abstract

Operators working in a number of basins around the world are experiencing faster than expected production decline rates. This may be in part due to the abandonment of good fracturing practices developed over the past 50 years, which have been ignored or abandoned with the advent of horizontal, multi-stage fracturing. Advancements in open hole, multi-stage fracturing systems are addressing issues such as near wellbore conductivity, flowback, and fracture tortuosity that can have a significant effect on the long-term production of wells. Multiple case studies will be presented to demonstrate the effective application of these systems in unconventional resource plays.

As always, please try and RSVP online at http://www.spedallas.org/luncheon.htm by Monday afternoon!

Have a great week!

Thanks,

4th Annual SPE Softball Tournament Info

Hi all –

Just wanted to let you know that the 4th Annual SPE softball tournament will be at Huffines Park in Richardson on April 9, 2011.  If you would like to be a part of the planning committee, we are planning to meet on January 26, 2011 – so drop me an email and I’ll put you on the list.

We will be able to have food, drinks, etc inside the complex this year, so that should work much better and make the event more social. It will be a double elimination tournament with a maximum of 16 teams. Please spread the word and get your team prepared to compete for the Champion’s Cup. In fairness of the event, we would like all players to work in the oil and gas industry or be a spouse of a player from the industry (NO RINGERS). The format will be similar to last year, which will require one female batter for every two male batters and allow no more than 7 male players in the field (3 female).

Looking forward to seeing you all on the field!

Thanks!
Sara Miller
